Yesterday, I was over at my wonderful friend Mandie's house and she showed me her blog suggesting I start my own. I thought she had a marvelous idea, so here I am tonight writing this first note. You may wish to know where I came up with such a name as cheese and fruit punch. That is thanks to my roommie Amber. I had been thinking way too long and hard about what kind of name to give a blog when I suddenly heard her say something about cheese and fruit punch tasting good together, so I of course had no choice but to name my blog after her statement. Is that too silly a name for a blog? Oh well, too late now :)Now that I have shared how my life of blogging began, I guess I should let you know a little bit about me. First of all, I am just a simple bondservant of a gracious and heavenly Father who has saved me through the death of His son, Jesus Christ. Why, you may ask do I share this with you? Well because He is my all and all, my everything, so you cannot begin to understand my life without understanding where I find my hope and reason for living.
Family is a huge part of my life. My God-fearing parents have always served as an excellent example of Chri
st in my life, and I know I can count on them always. I also have a gorgeous blue-eyed little sister who is an absolute delight to me. She is smart and witty and reads me better than any other person I know. I do not know what I would do without her. I also had an older brother, James, who passed away when I was 12 years old. He was such a light to mine and my family's life, and I am so grateful for the time God gave me with him.
As of Monday, another important aspect of my life is now my new and first boyfriend Derrick. I feel blessed to have him in my life , and I look forward to whatever plans God has in store for us. I am a people person, so friends also consume a large portion of my life. Relationships are so important and such a great way to see a living example of how we are formed in the image of Christ.
Currently, I am a student at the University of North Texas pursuing my bachelor's degree in Development and Family Studies. I am not completely sure what I will do with my degree once I graduate, but I do know God will guide me when the time comes.
Let me end with a little bit about today. In two words: wonderful and cold. It was wonderful because I was able to spend some time with Derrick, my roommates, and my friend Femie. Beginning with wonderful, Derrick came over for lunch before driving us to campus and walking me to class. This is where my other word for today, cold, comes in. It was a cold walk but totally worth it because it involved wonderful conversation and time together. Once I returned to my apartment after class, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with both of my roommates. To top off my wonderful evening, my roommie Amanda cooked a delicious dinner of cilantro chicken and rice for our friend Femie and me. So that is the end of my wonderfully cold day.
Just a thought:
"whereas you do not know know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." James 4:14
I encourage all who read this verse to enjoy the wonderful moments in life you are given each day. For really, what is our life? Life does not last forever, so enjoy every moment you are given.
